Our Story

Tequoia Urbina, our founder, always dreamed of creating an "artist haven," a space for artists to gather, collaborate, and enhance their craft. She'd daydream about what it was like during the Harlem Renaissance when artistic geniuses like Louis Armstrong and Langston Hughes would congregate with visionaries like Augusta and Zora Neal Hurston. The difference between then and now is simply community. The ability to exchange creative energies to create masterpieces that affect the world. This vision came to life with the establishment of Vila da Magnolia in 2024, supported by colleagues and like-minded individuals. With over 25 of experience in the independent film industry, Tequoia was well-equipped to commit to transforming her idea into a meaningful organization. The world is a better place when artists have the freedom to create. Vila da Magnolia aspires to be the refuge for distressed artists. A haven where the creative can find the resources and support they need to find their voice and embrace their passions.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

At Vila da Magnolia, we embrace all individuals and holds that equity, inclusion, diversity, and antiracism are vital to our mission. We aim for the Vila da Magnolia experience to be enriched by a variety of ideas, perspectives, and life experiences. We oppose all forms of discrimination and are dedicated to fostering an environment rooted in our principles.
